My 10 Favorite 2019 Photos Of Phoenix Newborn Photographer
OK, that might be a little bit of a stretch. These ARE 10 of my favorite pictures of 2019. But the truth is, I couldn’t choose just 10 even if you told me all the chocolate was going to disappear from the world if I didn’t. There were just TOO many amazing sessions last year to be able to choose! SO many beautiful babies, adorable kiddos, and beautiful families!
But I did pick 10 that I really like and want to share with you.
Ozzie came in for his six month portrait session, just like his brother before him. It didn’t take much to get him to smile and laugh- he is such a happy baby! When little ones like Ozzie come in for a session, and we have such a fun time together it totally reminds me of when my kids were little. And I have to say, I work with the BEST parents out there!
Talking to moms when they bring their babies in is my social hour. Learning their story – their pregnancy journey, how they met their spouse, what education they have, where they have traveled… It is just so interesting and reinforces my belief that because people are so different, this world is a very interesting and wonderful place!
Lisa and her husband are from Zimbabwe, and you better believe I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their accents! It took a little work to get their daughter to be agreeable to getting her picture taken, but once we started throwing rocks into the water, she decided she loved it! When kids are having a hard time, the thing that almost always turns things around is making the session into a game!
I know it can be hard when kids are not acting their usual happy selves for pictures. I’m not sure what it is about cameras that can bring out the worst in people sometimes! Maybe kids (and adults, let’s be real) feel too self conscious to relax and just be themselves! I can totally relate to feeling uncomfortable in the front of a camera. I’m the WORST! But I think this helps me try even harder to help you be at ease and just have fun with your session.
Nico’s mom came to me for both a Fresh 48 AND a studio newborn session. He is one of those babies that just seems wise beyond his years. Fresh 48 sessions are so special. Those first few days after having a baby are ROUGH. Think of what your body just did! It’s miraculous! Recovery from that is no joke, my friend. It can be hard to remember that your body grew into that condition over the period of almost a year. It only makes sense that it would take at least that long to transform into your new self after giving birth. Yes, I purposely said transform into a new self because expecting to return to your old self doesn’t really seem possible. And, in my opinion, your new mother self is an improved version anyway.
Samantha and her husband chose this gorgeous spot by the river for their maternity session. It was super bright when we got there, but once the sun went behind the mountains magic happened! The colors in this scene are just stunning!
June’s mom, dad, AND grandma came to her session. It was so fun to see three generations of women together! One thing I have loved about my business this last year is that my studio has felt like a safe, happy space for my amazing clients to come spend time.
Just a few of the places that my clients came from this year are the United States (obvi), India, Mexico, Honduras, France, Zimbabwe, South America, and Poland. So many different cultures, colors, races, and religions have come to my studio and I can honestly say I consider every. single. client. a good friend once we have spent a couple of hours together snuggling their baby!
When Diego’s mom saw this moon, she fell in love and requested it for their portraits. I think Diego likes it too, by the little smile on his face! My favorite thing to hear from my clients is “I trust you”. That was the case in this session. They came in and felt comfortable enough to hand me their most precious possession, Diego, and told me they loved my work and completely trusted my vision for them. BAM! Those are magic words, to a photographer! And wouldn’t you know that whenever that is how the newborn session begins, it always turns out to be amazing!
When I captured this image, I immediately knew it would be my favorite of the year. I mean, you get smiles sometimes, but the smile AND tongue out?! This is pure gold!
My main message of this post is to say a huge THANK YOU to all the families that I was blessed to work with in 2019. You were all amazing, each and every one of you!! I hope that we get to work together again. 🙂
