Moms Are Usually the Memory Keepers
As moms, we document everything.
We take the milestone photos, the candid videos, the first-day-of-school pictures, and the everyday moments that matter. We make sure everyone else is remembered.
But somewhere along the way, many moms slowly disappear from the frame.
As a newborn photographer in Scottsdale, I see this constantly during baby, family, and motherhood sessions. Moms will spend weeks planning outfits for everyone else, making sure their children look perfect, and then quietly tell me:
“I don’t really need to be in many photos.”
But the truth is—you absolutely do.
Your children deserve photographs with you in them. Not because you looked perfect, but because you were there.

I Understand This Personally
This topic is personal for me because I’ve felt those same emotions myself.
I know what it feels like to want the photos but not feel confident stepping in front of the camera. I know what it’s like to notice every insecurity:
- Feeling bloated during pregnancy
- Feeling exhausted postpartum
- Feeling uncomfortable in your body
- Wondering if you should wait until you “look better” or lose a few pounds
Motherhood changes us physically and emotionally. And in seasons where sleep is minimal and your body feels unfamiliar, being photographed can feel incredibly vulnerable.
But I also know something else:
The photos still matter anyway.
Actually, they matter even more because of those seasons.

Your Kids Won’t See What You See
One of the biggest mindset shifts I try to share with moms is this:
Your children will never analyze these images the way you do.
They won’t notice:
- The extra weight
- The tired eyes
- The postpartum body
- The things you criticize about yourself
They’ll notice:
- The way you held them close
- The way you smiled at them
- The safety they felt with you
- The love in every image
One day, your babies won’t be babies anymore.
And these photographs will become proof that you were there loving them through every stage.

Creating a Comfortable Experience for Moms
A huge part of my job as a Scottsdale newborn and family photographer is helping moms feel comfortable and confident during sessions.
You do not have to know how to pose. You do not have to feel “photogenic.” You do not have to show up perfect.
That’s my job.
I intentionally use:
- Flattering lighting
- Natural posing
- Angles that feel comfortable
- Movement-based interaction
- Wardrobe guidance
- Gentle direction throughout the session
The goal is never stiff perfection. The goal is connection.
Some of my favorite moments happen when moms relax and simply focus on loving their babies instead of worrying about the camera.

The Photos Moms Almost Skip Become Their Favorites
I can’t tell you how many times a mom has said:
“I almost didn’t get in the photos.”
And later, those become the images they treasure most.
Especially during the newborn stage.
There is something incredibly emotional about documenting:
- Tiny baby fingers wrapped around yours
- A sleepy newborn resting on your chest
- Toddlers cuddled into mom’s arms
- The overwhelming tenderness of early motherhood
These moments are fleeting.
And years later, the photos become priceless.

Motherhood Deserves to Be Remembered
Whether you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, chasing toddlers, or navigating life with older kids, you deserve to be seen in your family’s story.
Not someday when everything feels perfect.
Now.
Because your children already see you as beautiful. They already see comfort, love, and home when they look at you.
As a newborn photographer in Scottsdale, my goal is to create images that help moms feel confident enough to step into the frame and preserve the moments that matter most.
Because one day, these photographs won’t just matter to you.
They’ll matter to your children too.

With over a decade of experience photographing maternity, newborns, babies, and families, she specializes in making tired, busy moms feel completely taken care of — from outfit planning all the way to choosing the perfect artwork for your walls. A mom of six herself, she knows how fast these little seasons go, and she’s on a mission to make sure your family’s story gets preserved in a way you’ll actually hold onto. When she’s not behind the camera, she’s probably wrangling her own crew and wishing someone would bring her a Diet Coke.
